Famous starlets are still photographed poolside and rich old women are secretly holed up in the suites after not-so- top secret plastic surgeries. They are a little sad and have seen better days so I've been keeping my eyes open for some inspiration to get going on a new one. I think I've found it! I may brave Michael's soon and use a coupon I've been hanging on to. I have to go into that stupid store with a specific shopping list otherwise I get so overwhelmed that I just stare at all of the Martha Stewart crafting stuff, eyes glazed over, and walk out with nothing but a candle or something. It's sad really. On another note, we had some serious painting happening this weekend in the baby's nursery and I should have some progress photos up for you by tomorrow. My dad painted the crib a bright shade of green that I'm crazy for and my brother is slooooowly getting the room painted a crisp shade of white. Don't tell him I said that. He doesn't read my silly blog so it's just between us;) Until then.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />*Today's Post Sponsored By*</span><br /><a href="http://www.grandillusions.co.uk/">Grand Illusions</a><br /></div>Amy @ Varnishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17260788552087769665noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290619340367645175.post-3885841143538534092010-11-11T06:49:00.000-08:002010-11-11T06:50:19.580-08:00Be Bold!<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/98704941@N00/4885125710/" title="Cath Kidston in Lonny by Wig3000, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4081/4885125710_b4a5bfc9d9_o.png" alt="Cath Kidston in Lonny" height="645" width="494" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />Are you as tired as I am of boring interiors? I am guilty with a capital "G" of this in my own home. I am trying my best to set out on a new design path and that is one of fearlessness. Now, I'm not saying I want Jonathan Adler's home but I do think I could stand a dose of adventure in a few rooms that I don't spend all day in. The powder room, the laundry room and the office are great places to get out the big box of crayons. You know, the one with the sharpener. You can leave your windows open all day and then sit out for dinner in the evening with a light sweater. It's making me wish we had a fabulous indoor/outdoor space like these. That was a dumb statement, wasn't it?! Anyhow, these places are gorgeous. My husband is currently designing an amazing guest house for a couple where the walls of glass literally just stack away into the walls leaving nothing but you on the sofa with a glass of wine while the sun sets.<br /><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP7g4298vh4AQmmwINO8i6jZC3uAvU-swTtS7ma3u2sqw7mDIqbQhBhrC6u2XPZzOZalTD2pCpuC5PhrbpMhtiDZagBm81m3huQJ9PQx2qEPA9lavX2lnREoxfad8wvfq8J5JIa9i1lBk/s1600/Outdoor+4.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 550px; height: 322px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP7g4298vh4AQmmwINO8i6jZC3uAvU-swTtS7ma3u2sqw7mDIqbQhBhrC6u2XPZzOZalTD2pCpuC5PhrbpMhtiDZagBm81m3huQJ9PQx2qEPA9lavX2lnREoxfad8wvfq8J5JIa9i1lBk/s400/Outdoor+4.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538021625465300946" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipuHzN4Ns_LHoRXGFAWd845CSpF1FjZSwu_yd1T3d46YC0039Qtw7yP6NIWaLK7g_1HjRmHPOZxdYv2TaYCubY6KRgfawDVHM2GKW1E5Sr6xabYuHKU89ltNcs1iPwMXF0pbzlfQC81qY/s1600/Outdoor+3.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 550px; height: 322px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipuHzN4Ns_LHoRXGFAWd845CSpF1FjZSwu_yd1T3d46YC0039Qtw7yP6NIWaLK7g_1HjRmHPOZxdYv2TaYCubY6KRgfawDVHM2GKW1E5Sr6xabYuHKU89ltNcs1iPwMXF0pbzlfQC81qY/s400/Outdoor+3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538021613831090642" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg70TVxk-DwBL5CnzWd25_SfuOdW9VBjGLGOH2flfdf_blQgCeyBLpq1ILPLbit-EjgchYLwG-PDs-OKnikncW1fVP7TPCBw4OlQ_C63Lzex8MQiaPCE8JoNiR-2c4yz2Ttxe5GDwGd5r4/s1600/Outdoor+2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 550px; height: 322px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg70TVxk-DwBL5CnzWd25_SfuOdW9VBjGLGOH2flfdf_blQgCeyBLpq1ILPLbit-EjgchYLwG-PDs-OKnikncW1fVP7TPCBw4OlQ_C63Lzex8MQiaPCE8JoNiR-2c4yz2Ttxe5GDwGd5r4/s400/Outdoor+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538021606731092626" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglz68jgDubZWhr5YGVIXSH4UHB3iXR2OtXc1cb529CcaHGkTPqZIjZjB62RT71v-XbI5kLD5tVbR-56enRgOxDzrDYaZr0yCpzgCeE3lXGOrXLigMXHXIO3pLDwkppkSKZMtgpmwUaVWg/s1600/Outdoor+1.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 550px; height: 322px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglz68jgDubZWhr5YGVIXSH4UHB3iXR2OtXc1cb529CcaHGkTPqZIjZjB62RT71v-XbI5kLD5tVbR-56enRgOxDzrDYaZr0yCpzgCeE3lXGOrXLigMXHXIO3pLDwkppkSKZMtgpmwUaVWg/s400/Outdoor+1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5538021599465597346" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Today's Post Sponsored By*<br /><a href="http://www.capeportfolios.com/">Cape Portfolios</a><br /></div>Amy @ Varnishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17260788552087769665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290619340367645175.post-82930995324067061282010-11-08T07:19:00.000-08:002010-11-09T07:04:06.485-08:00Jerry Misko's Art<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/varnishdesign/5051192355/" title="Jerry Misko Art by VARNISHdesign, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4153/5051192355_ce257240fb.jpg" alt="Jerry Misko Art" height="500" width="500" /></a><br /></div><br /><a href="http://www.jerrymisko.com/index.html">Jerry Misko</a> is a local Las Vegas artist who does awesome work. The Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona Chair is the first piece of furniture that I fell in love with in design school. In my first furniture history class I discovered there is a lot to learn about world history based on what kind of chairs the behinds of the influential sat in! The Barcelona Chair has a rich story and if you consider yourself a history buff, feel free to read on <a href="http://www.modernfurnitureclassics.com/index.php/main_page/editorial/title/Title%2013">here</a>. For me this chair represents the point in time where I fell in love with design and not coincidentally my architect, aka, my husband.<br /></div><br /><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/varnishdesign/5023346328/" title="Eileen Gray Side Table by VARNISHdesign, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/5023346328_a7c831042c.jpg" alt="Eileen Gray Side Table" height="421" width="400" /></a><br /><br />This classic side table designed by Architect, Eileen Gray in 1927 for her famous house in Cap Martin now sits in my living room. I have always loved this piece and about 4 years ago my husband surprised me with it for my birthday. It's sleek, clean and totally tough as nails! It was also designed by a female architect in a time when the only thing a woman was designing was a plan to escape!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/varnishdesign/5022690883/" title="Eames Lounge Chair by VARNISHdesign, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/5022690883_805601f88c.jpg" alt="Eames Lounge Chair" height="336" width="450" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);font-size:78%;" >images via <a href="http://www.officefurnitureexpress.co.uk/">Office Furniture Express</a></span><br />Ah, the Eames Lounge Chair. It's like the holy grail for us. Designed by the husband and wife team, <a href="http://www.eameschairinspired.com/#/history/4540492155">Charles and Ray Eames</a>, this lounge chair is the epitome of modern design. In 1956 this lounge chair came on the scene and it's not going anywhere people. In my opinion, the sexiest rooms in the world hold this chair and is object of our affections! Someday, after the kids are grown and half-way trustworthy, we'll splurge and add this little piece of history to our own home.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">*Today's Posts Sponsored By*</span><br /><a href="http://www.officefurnitureexpress.co.uk/">Office Furniture Express</a><br /></div>Amy @ Varnishhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17260788552087769665noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290619340367645175.post-32392338766899018182010-11-03T10:19:00.000-07:002010-11-03T10:20:13.836-07:00Jonathan Adler Junior<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/varnishdesign/4989780821/" title="Jonathan Adler Junior by VARNISHdesign, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/4989780821_f9cc43fce0_z.jpg" alt="Jonathan Adler Junior" height="550" width="550" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>I know that most of us are just trying to get rid of our Ikea and move on to big girl furniture so the thought of our little ones having this nice of stuff makes us a little crazy BUT we still can't help but loving it, can we? <a href="http://www.jonathanadler.com/Jonathan-Adler-Junior/?cat=560">Jonathan Adler</a> knows his way around color and pattern so it only seems natural that a kids line would be next.
